Friends of Lakeview has partnered with local business, AURA Candle Bar, to support support the mission of Friends of Lakeview:
By leveraging individual and corporate donations, grants, and other sources of funding, FOL supports a resilient local economy and high quality of life for the benefit of businesses and residents in Chicago's Lakeview community by improving and enhancing public streets and spaces, creating memorable experiences, and promoting the neighborhood.
The process.
Executive Director Becca Girsch, Marketing and Events Director Alyssa Lombardo, and FOL Board Member & Chamber President Stephanie Biederman had a consultation at AURA Candle Bar to explore what exactly Lakeview smells like. They began by brainstorming key words and phrases that described Lakeview and landed on Bright, Resilient, & Proud! Once the three of them decided on their own our signature scents that represented those key words, the prototype candles were made. Fast forward to the Friends of Lakeview board meeting, where members discussed, assessed, and of course sniffed each option. Finally, this lead them to the final product!
The product.
The final product embodies the Spirit of Lakeview: Bright, Resilient and Proud! The candle includes the scents of Aloe and Bonsai to represent our colorful corridors and tree lined streets, Early Grey as a nod to the many cafes and cozy spots you can find on every block, and Cashmere which pays homage to local retailers that our residents love so dearly and keep our neighborhood together. These high quality 10 oz. vessels provide a simple design, sure to fit into any setting and make the perfect gift or addition to your own home!
Candles are priced at $38 and each purchase provides a 25% donation to support Friends of Lakeview. These candles contain premium oil/fragrances designed for hot throw or best smelled when heated or lit (hot-throw) as AURA does not add chemical additives to intensify the fragrance when the wax is cold (cold-throw).
